Sebastian Lauer is a German visual effects supervisor at RISE Visual Effects Studios. He studied Virtual Design at the University of Applied Sciences Kaiserslautern, completing a Bachelor of Arts degree with a thesis focused on photorealistic texture painting for visual effects. Before that, he trained as a digital media designer in Saarbrücken. Lauer began his career in digital media before entering the visual effects industry as a 2D/3D artist at Neutron Games. He joined Pixomondo in 2011 as a CG artist and worked on Hugo (2011), Terra Nova (2011), and The Amazing Spider-Man (2012). During his early tenure, he worked across modelling, texturing, look development, and lighting on After Earth (2013), The Physician (2013), and multiple seasons of Game of Thrones (2011). His work on Game of Thrones (2011) formed part of teams that received nominations at the Visual Effects Society Awards. He later advanced to Lead Asset TD at Pixomondo, where he oversaw asset creation pipelines across modelling, texturing, look development, and lighting. In this capacity, he worked on Fantastic Four (2015), The Purge: Election Year (2016), xXx: Return of Xander Cage (2017), and Game of Thrones (2011) seasons six and seven. He subsequently joined MPC in London as a Texturing TD, contributing to films including The Jungle Book (2016), Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), and Terminator Genisys (2015). In 2017, Lauer moved to Chimney as a Lead CG Artist, where he served as CG lead on projects such as Die Heinzels – Rückkehr der Heinzelmännchen (2019), Pettersson und Findus 3 – Findus zieht um (2018), and Hexe Lilli 3, while also performing on-set supervision. He joined RISE Visual Effects Studios in 2018 as a CG Supervisor, working on Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019), Dark (2017) season three, WandaVision (2021), Loki (2021), Biohackers (2020) season two, Stowaway (2021), and The King's Man (2021). Lauer was promoted to Visual Effects Supervisor at RISE in 2021, working on Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022), Ms. Marvel (2022), Citadel (2023), and Gen V (2023), The Crow (2024), Hagen (2024), Ironheart (2025), Heads of State (2025), The Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025) and Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026).
